As we put our heart and souls into being as prepared as possible FEMA screws up the one area where they should be exceeding. All over the country there are people who spend a large majority of there income and time in being prepared for emergencies. We make plan after plan, stock food, learn skills, and pass our message of preparedness to others.
Today we have witnessed once again that it does not matter how much money you throw at something, unless your heart is involved you will be no more successful.
Having an interest in the field of preparedness I made it a point to monitor multiple systems of communications. Only a handful of TV stations broadcasted the message. That message was fairly disappointing. It sort of reminded me of an old Apple operating system from the 90′s. Well I guess I shouldn’t complain FEMA must not have invested much into the message. How about Radio? That was one area I was impressed with. Right on the bat at 2 PM ET the message arrived but then fell silent. How about the internet? Sitting here in Ohio with my Time Warner connection was unaffected. Not even a blip.
Its not all bad though. I was apposed to the whole thing to begin with. For me it comes down to the power structure in the US. Local on top with federal on the bottom. With an epic fail of this nature it only goes to show that a local system of alert is the only viable option. Federal government stick to what you do best. Regulate fair trade among the many states and provide a common defense. Leave our countries communication to those who understand and know what they are doing.
